Our History
The California Adult Education Administrators' Association (CAEAA) was established in 1990 by a group of adult education administrators who believed there was an urgent need for adult educators to take a proactive role in developing legislation that would take adult education programs into the twenty-first century. The association wrote and was the primary sponsoring organization for AB 1321, authored by then Assemblywoman Cathy Wright. The association played an active role in the passage of the three adult education bills that were signed into law in 1992 by governor Pete Wilson. The association regularly follows all legislation that affects adult education on a local and statewide level. It works collaboratively with the other adult education professional organizations on these and all adult education related issues. CAEAA publishes a quarterly newsletter and sends out special alerts as necessary to all its members.

Executive Board representatives regularly meet with the California Department of Education and the Department of Finance to discuss solutions to current and on-going adult education issues.
